Muskies Matter Inc 2nd Qualification Kilbourn Flowage

TOURNAMENT RULES
1. Fish will be scored on a points system. 30 points for each tournament legal fish (34 inches or larger) plus 1 point for each 1/4 (one quarter) inch over 34 inches (rounding down to the nearest 1/4 inch). 34 inches or larger is a legal tournament fish. No fish under 34 inches will be registered. Any fish over 34 qualifies you for the championship. The most total inches caught the day of the derby event is the winner.
2. 40% payout to the days winner, 40% to the championship pool, 20% goes to the club. Entry fees will be $20 per club members $40 for non club members.
3. There may be 3 people per boat.
4. Registration will at the boat launch of each derby. And will begin one half hour before fishing begins. And end at the beginning of fishing time. If you see in line you will considered on time. Boats will not be allowed to be launched prior to check in and inspection.
5. Each boat entered is required to have at least one cell phone. A cell phone is needed in the event of an accident and to submit pictures for qualification.
6. All decisions by judges are final. All decisions will be made in the spirit of competition and the best interest of the fish, according to the rules set forth.
7. All contestants and boats must comply with Wisconsin Fishing and Boating Regulations.
8. All boats will be inspected prior to competition
9. All persons will be given a playing card.
10. Muskies Matter Inc. has bump boards that can be loaned if needed. If a team brings their own bump board they need to be approved by the judge at the boat launch.
11. Participants must were properly secured personal flotation device when the boat is on plane.
12. Please keep a 20 foot interval between yourself and any other boats.
13. This is a catch and release Derby. All fish must be photographed on a club approved bump board. The nose of the fish must be bumped properly with the belly out. TWO pictures will be required for qualifying fish.
14. The first photograph must show full length of fish, and at least one inch of bump board must be visible beyond the tail of the fish. Photos must also include the playing card assigned to the fisher person, next to the bump board. This will be the judging picture.
 
15. The second submitted picture should be your hero shot. This picture is of you holding the fish horizontally.
16. Pictures must be clear. Any pictures not following this criteria will be disqualified. NO exceptions. Please send more than one picture. The best quality picture will be used for judging. Fish pictures will be sent to 608-495-2909 for judging and posting on Muskies Matter Inc. Facebook page. (we will only share bump board pictures during tournament hours) You may pinch the tail or turn it side to side but the fish must be bumped all the way forward. Contestants may resume fishing after the submission of qualifying photos. You will get a timely confirmation your photos have been submitted. You must stay in the release area for a minimum of 15 minutes to insure a live release. If a fish is killed, the contestant will be deducted 15 points.
17. Trolling with artificial baits is allowed.
18. Only one rod per angler is allowed.
19. Artificial baits only. NO LIVE BAIT can be used or be in the boat during tournament hours.
20. No snagged fish are eligible for the tournament.
21. Bump boards must be returned to Muskies Matter after completion of the Derby
22. For any infractions of above stated rules, officials have the authority to enforce appropriate discipline by warning, deduction or disqualification of a team.
23. All contestants are required to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and conservation not only to tournament participants but all those enjoy the great outdoors. Contestants should conduct themselves in a manner that will bring credit to themselves, Muskies Matter, our sponsors, and the sport of fishing.
24. 19 boats only! be early!
 
The goal of this Derby is to have a some safe and enjoyable time on water and to help Muskies Matter to continue to stock and improve habitat for Musky and other species within it. As well as youth education! And veteran appreciation!
